Welly Pictures is a Northamptonshire commercial photography studio built on a simple belief: that the quality of your imagery should reflect the quality of what you do. Every project we take on is led by Sam, an MA-qualified photographer, creative director, and former educator with over a decade of experience shaping how brands communicate visually.
The Educator’s Eye
Sam's journey didn't begin with a camera. It began with Art and Illustration, a fascination with how a single image can shift a feeling, establish trust, or tell a story that words alone can't carry.
Before taking Welly Pictures full-time, Sam spent a decade teaching photography at colleges and schools. That background matters more than it might first appear. It means every client relationship is built on clear communication, structured thinking, and the ability to explain the creative process in plain English. No jargon, no guesswork, and no awkward silences in front of a lens.

Our values
Collaboration We don't arrive on-site with a fixed idea and execute it regardless. Every project begins with a genuine conversation about your brand, your audience, and what you need these images to achieve. We listen first, then apply our expertise to create imagery that resonates with the right people.
Creative strategy Every brand presents a different challenge. We tailor our approach for every client, by building bespoke mood boards, shot lists, and creative concepts that are specific to your project rather than recycled from the last one. We stay closely attuned to trends in commercial, architectural, and hospitality photography so your assets always feel current.
Progression Our relationship with clients doesn't end when the gallery lands in your inbox. We actively support the brands we work with, by sharing finished imagery across our own platforms, offering insights on how to deploy your assets effectively, and remaining available as a long-term creative partner.
A few things worth knowing about us
The MA. Sam holds a master’s degree in Photographic Communication, a formal grounding in how images are constructed to communicate, persuade, and connect.
The teaching background. Sam still offers one-to-one photography tuition because the "lightbulb moment", when someone finally understands their camera and never gets old.
Off the clock. When Sam isn't behind the lens, you'll find her on the river with a paddleboard, which turns out to be an excellent way to reset a creative eye.
