The creative director behind Welly Pictures

Meet Sam.

The strategy behind the lens, an MA-qualified photographer, creative director and former educator with over a decade of experience shaping how brands communicate visually.

The educator's eye

A decade in the classroom before a decade behind the lens.

Sam's journey didn't begin with a camera. It began with Art and Illustration and a fascination with how a single image can shift a feeling, establish trust, or tell a story words alone can't carry.

Before taking Welly Pictures full-time, Sam spent a decade teaching photography at colleges and schools. That means every client relationship is built on clear communication and structured thinking, with no jargon, no guesswork, no awkward silences in front of a lens.

A strategic mindset

Beautiful images, and strategic assets that do meaningful work.

The result is a studio that brings together artistic precision and genuine commercial understanding — not just beautiful images, but visual assets built to achieve something specific for your business.

Our values

What guides every project.

Collaboration

We don't arrive on-site with a fixed idea and execute it regardless. Every project begins with a genuine conversation about your brand, your audience, and what you need these images to achieve. We listen first, then apply our expertise to create imagery that resonates with the right people.

Creative strategy

Every brand presents a different challenge. We tailor our approach for every client, by building bespoke mood boards, shot lists, and creative concepts that are specific to your project rather than recycled from the last one. We stay closely attuned to trends in commercial, architectural, and hospitality photography so your assets always feel current.

Progression

Our relationship with clients doesn't end when the gallery lands in your inbox. We actively support the brands we work with, by sharing finished imagery across our own platforms, offering insights on how to deploy your assets effectively, and remaining available as a long-term creative partner.

Sam produced some really lovely images for our portfolio, she came up with great shot ideas, was responsive and the turnaround time on the work was very quick.
